You should also inspect your roof after an extreme event or if you notice sunlight coming through or asphalt granules in the gutter, which means the shingles are breaking down.

Most roofs typically last at least 20 years, but the length of duration depends on the material used for the shingles and the weather conditions in your area. Be sure to winterize your home in the winter and check for ultraviolet ray damage in the summer, and you will be able to prevent any damage from occurring.
